Daylong Equanimity Retreat. Hollywood Hills

Equanimity is a capacity we can develop to be more present, grounded and responsive in relationship to the broad range of pleasant and unpleasant experiences that characterize human life. In this daylong retreat we will explore various ways the concept of equanimity is expressed through dharma teachings and offer a series of contemplative practices that support the development of this quality that is so critical to Dharma practice. There will be periods of teaching and ample time for silent mindfulness practice. You will leave the day with practices that can truly enhance your life.

This day-long, non-residential retreat will be held largely in silence.

In the Buddhist tradition, the phrase “the middle way” points to a kind of presence that resists the impulse to unconsciously escape, sugarcoat, deny or numb the full range of human experience. Instead, we practice responsive presence with what is. Through Buddhist contemplative practices, movement, and interpersonal mindfulness practices, we will draw our attention inward, with a particular invitation to be present with our bodies with equanimity, kindness, and compassion. This retreat will be led by Buddhist Meditation teachers Enrique Collazo and Pablo Das, with assistance from Ben Daniel, who works at the intersection of sound, movement, and embodied awareness.
